RRB NTPC 10+2 UG Exam Date 2026

Railway Recruitment Board has officially published the examination calendar for the RRB NTPC Undergraduate (10+2) CBT-1 under notification CEN 07/2025. With over 63.27 lakh registered candidates competing for 3,058 vacancies, this is among the largest recruitment drives at the 12th-pass level in 2026. The computer-based test will be conducted across approximately 200 centres nationwide, starting 7th May 2026 and running through 21st June 2026.

Admit Card & City Slip Details

Railway Recruitment Board follows a two-step process before the actual examination. First, candidates receive a City Intimation Slip that reveals the exam city, date, and shift allotted to them. This drops approximately 10 days before the scheduled exam date on the portal rrb.digialm.com.

The Admit Card (Hall Ticket) itself becomes available 4 days prior to the examination. It carries the exact centre address, reporting time, and a photograph alongside the candidate’s roll number. Without a printed copy of this document, entry into the examination hall will be denied — no exceptions apply.

CBT-1 Exam Pattern

The first-stage computer-based test is a screening round. Candidates clearing CBT-1 become eligible for the post-specific CBT-2 examination. Negative marking of ⅓ mark per wrong answer applies across all sections.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the 10+2 Intermediate examination from a recognized board. General, OBC, and EWS category applicants require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates need only a passing grade. For the Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist posts, an additional typing proficiency is mandatory — 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a computer.

Selected candidates are placed in Level 2 or Level 3 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix depending on the post. Here is the pay structure along with approximate in-hand earnings:

Apart from the basic pay, employees receive Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, and other railway-specific benefits including a travel pass facility.

Application Fee Structure

The refund is credited back to the source account after the candidate appears in the Stage-I examination. Those who skip the exam forfeit the refund portion.

Selection Stages

The full recruitment pipeline under CEN 07/2025 comprises five distinct stages. Each round is eliminatory — only those who clear a stage progress to the next one.

1. CBT-1 (Screening): 100 objective questions across three subjects. This is a qualifying round; scores are used to shortlist candidates for CBT-2 at a ratio determined by the Board.
2. CBT-2 (Main Exam): A more advanced paper tailored to the 12th-pass level. Higher weightage on General Awareness and Mathematics. Merit is drawn from CBT-2 marks.
3. Typing / Skill Test: Applicable only for Clerk and Typist posts. Candidates must demonstrate the required WPM on a computer-based platform. This round is qualifying in nature — pass or fail.
4. Document Verification (DV): Original certificates, mark sheets, caste/category documents, and photographs are verified at the designated RRB zonal office.
5. Medical Examination: Fitness assessment as per Indian Railway medical standards. Vision, hearing, and general health parameters are evaluated at this stage.

How to Download Admit Card

1. Visit the official RRB regional website for your zone (e.g., rrbcdg.gov.in, rrbchennai.gov.in) or the common portal rrb.digialm.com.
2. Locate the CEN 07/2025 — NTPC UG CBT-1 link on the homepage or candidate login section.
3. Log in using your Registration Number and Date of Birth as credentials.
4. First, download the City Intimation Slip (available ~10 days before your exam date) to know your allotted city and shift.
5. When the admit card window opens (4 days before exam), return to the same portal and download the Hall Ticket PDF.
6. Take two colour printouts on A4 paper. One copy is submitted at the exam centre; keep the second as backup.
7. Carry a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License) that matches the name on your admit card.

Last-Minute Preparation Tips

Mathematics: Stick to fundamentals — Percentages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, and Number System collectively cover around 60% of Maths questions historically. Practice with a timer to build speed.

Reasoning: Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Syllogism, and Series patterns are frequently tested. Attempt mock tests that mirror the 90-minute, 100-question format.

Exam Day Essentials: Reach the centre at least 60 minutes before the shift starts. Carry a transparent water bottle, admit card printout, and photo ID. Electronic devices, including smartwatches, are strictly prohibited inside the hall.
