Normalisation Method

Since Tier-II was conducted across multiple shifts spanning three days, raw marks of candidates will be normalised using the standard formula notified by the Commission vide Notice No. 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07 February 2019. The mechanism equates difficulty levels across sessions to ensure no candidate is unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged on account of paper variation.

Normalised Marks = [(Mgt − Mqt) / (Mti − Mqt)] × (Mti − Mq) + Mq
Where Mgt is average of top 0.1% candidates of session, Mqt the sum of mean and standard deviation, and Mti the candidate’s actual score.
