Why signature size matters in Sarkari job applications

Every online recruitment portal — SSC, UPSC, Railway RRB, IBPS, state PSCs and police boards — asks for a scanned signature with a fixed pixel size and a very small file size, usually between 10 KB and 20 KB. A signature that is too large is rejected by the upload box, and one that is over-compressed becomes faint and can fail document verification or the admit-card signature match at the exam centre. This tool fits your signature into the required frame without cutting any stroke, then compresses it only as much as the KB limit demands.

Common signature specifications by exam

How to use the Signature Resize Tool

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen, inside a rough 6 cm × 2 cm box.
  2. Scan it, or photograph it in bright, even daylight from directly above.
  3. Select your exam preset here, or choose "Custom" and enter the width, height and KB limit from your notification.
  4. Upload the image — the signature is fitted into the frame on a white background.
  5. Check the preview for clarity, then download the JPEG and upload it to the portal.

Signature guidelines most boards follow

  • The signature must be handwritten — typed, printed or capital-letter names are rejected.
  • Use black or dark blue ink on plain white paper; avoid ruled or coloured sheets.
  • Keep the same signature across the form, admit card and exam-day attendance sheet.
  • No shadows, folds or background objects in the scan.
  • Some boards ask for the date below the signature — check the notification carefully.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most recruitment portals accept 140 × 60 pixels at 10–20 KB in JPEG format. UPSC and a few state boards use larger frames, so always confirm with the official notification.
